Denmar's role is closer to reentry and work placement than to street-arrest booking. Those facts make Denmar different from Tygart Valley, where Pocahontas County jail custody and fresh regional jail bookings are more likely to be checked.

Denmar has a strong local history. WVDCR says the site originally opened as a hospital in 1919 and now functions as a correctional center and jail near Hillsboro. That history is unusual among the Pocahontas County detention pages because Denmar is both physically local and state-operated. The FY2025 WVDCR report ties Denmar to correctional industries and supervised outside work crews. Those features make work assignment, reentry, and nearing release more relevant here than on a regional booking-jail page.
